Do you have any essential strategies do keep in mind as I learn how to let go of my teen?
Parents beware of over-involvement. Try smiles and humor instead. You might even experiment with treating your teen as if he were someone else’s! This can enable you to relate to him with more objectivity and lightheartedness.
Try these “letting go” strategies:
(1) View your teen as a young adult, not a child.
(2) Compromise when conflict occurs.
(3) Encourage mature behavior when you see it.
(4) Slowly, reduce the number and kind of limits, and increase the freedom.
